Product Questions

Does the Tacoma cab rack installation require drilling?
Question by Mike
No drilling required! This kit bolts right to existing factory mounting points located under the weather stripping on the roof. You can find detailed instructions under the INSTALL tab on the product page.
Answer by Front Runner
What is the sku for the air deflector? Thanks!
Question by Travis
We don't offer the Wind Deflector to be sold separately from the kits. If you have any issues with one that you had purchased with the kit, please give us a call and we'll make sure you're taken care of.
Answer by Front Runner
Will any kayak rack fit on this? or do I need to buy the kayak/canoe rack you make? (I already have a yak gear set that mount on crossbars but wasn't sure if they will fit this rack)
Question by Lee
Our Canoe and Kayak Carrier (SKU RRAC051) would the best choice as it was specifically designed to work with our rack systems. But, as long as a kayak mount can either grab onto our 3.5 inch slats or bolt into our T-slot which is13mm then you should be okay.
Answer by Front Runner
Would this rack accommodate 2 kayaks side by side using your kayak mounting brackets?
Question by Felix
The rack is 50 inches wide so it would totally depend on the size of your kayaks. For more sizing information please check out the "Spec" tab on the product page. Thanks!
Answer by Front Runner
Will slimline II be able to accommodate a Yakima Cargo Box?
Question by George
As long as the Yakima Cargo Box mounting clamps can fit over our 3 5/8 inch slats then you'll be able make it work. Have you checked out our new Monsoon Bag for rooftop storage?
Answer by Front Runner
How much weight can this rack handle?
Question by Rebecca
Hi Rebecca! The rack tray can hold 660 pounds or 300 kg but we recommend contacting the vehicle manufacturer to make sure what the limits for your specific vehicle are because it may not be as robust as our rack.
Answer by Front Runner
Is this everything I need to install on 2017 double cab Tacoma ?
Question by Evan Balbier
That's it! We give you everything you'll need to install the Roof Rack, you may need a few common tools (check the installation guide for the short list!)
Answer by Front Runner
Is there enough clearance for the GPS antenna? Located in the top middle rear.
Question by Lee
Yes. The Rack was designed to clear the GPS antenna.
Answer by Front Runner
The First Q&A recommends buying tent feet to put a roof top tent on the Slimline II Tacoma 2005+ roof rack, but I don't see the fit listed. What item is that?
Question by Alan
The product number for the Tent Mount Kit you are looking for is (TBMK001).
Answer by Front Runner
Can the slats be moved at all to accommodate a sunroof?
Question by Max
The front combined slat and adjoining standard slat attach to the roof rails for support so they can not be moved. However, the middle 3 slats can be moved to open up some space above the sunroof. For further information feel free to give us a call.
Answer by Front Runner
Do you leave the weather stripping installed or totally remove it?
Question by Bailey
You will just need to cut out the parts of the weather stripping where the Foot Rails attach to the roof. All the details are in the fitment guide - you can download what you need under the INSTALL tab.

Customer Reviews

Great roof rack! Review by Jessica
I originally bought it to have a roof top tent. But then after the super simple install, I realized all the other possibilities/capabilities it has! Maybe because I'm lady, but it's fun to change all my various accessories/toys. i.e. Water jug, wolf packs, bike, snowboards! or if I want to put another tent on my truck! LOVE MY FRONTRUNNER products!!! (Posted on 10/09/2017)
Awesome Rack with Easy Installation Review by Caleb
This is the second Frontrunner Slimline II rack that I have bought and installed. The first one went on a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. Super simple installation. This installation was still pretty simple, however holes had to be drilled into the weather stripping on the roof. The instructions recommend a hole punch to make the holes or a hole saw. Don't waste your time trying to find the right size hole punch. Just get a hole saw kit. I found a Kobalt hole saw kit and it worked great. The holes looked very clean and everything came out great. You'll probably need a friend to help you lift the actual rack tray onto the roof. I'm a FrontRunner customer for life now! (Posted on 24/06/2017)
