Product Questions

Will this rack fit a James Baroud Grand Raid XXL roof-top tent?
Question by Chris H
Our FJ Cruiser fitment is 1255mm W x 1964mm L (49.5" W x 77.3" L) and your tent is 1638mm W x 2273mm L (64.5" W x 89.5" L). The rack system can support the tent, but the tent will have 190mm (7.5") of overhang on each side and about 152mm (6") of overhang on the front and rear of the rack system. We recommend contacting the manufacture of your tent to ensure this will not cause any issues with the integrity of the tent.

If you have an older rack with the (6) individual feet and upgrade to the newer foot rails does this allow you to use the under rack table mount?
Question by Justin
Yes, if you upgrade to the newer foot rail you will absolutely have the option to use the under rack table slides. The new foot rail was designed with two cutouts that allow two under rack tables to be mounted.
Answer by Front Runner
what are the torque settings for mounting the rails to the roof of the fj?
Question by Jeff
We recommend 20Nm or 15ftlbs. We also recommend checking with your vehicle manufacturer. Thank you!
Answer by Front Runner
How much taller does the slimline rack sit compared to the factory rack? I am hoping to be at or below my existing factory rack height
Question by Tauran
Our rack will be shorter than the factory rack. There a couple of factors that come into play because the roof has different heights so it's difficult for us to say the exact height without having one on-hand.
Answer by Front Runner
What's the weight limit on the FJ Slimline rack (KRTF020T)
Question by Brian
The Weight Limit on the Roof Rack Tray is 660lbs (300kg) evenly dispersed.
Answer by Front Runner
What is the maximum load rating?
Question by Jim
What is the maximum load rating?
While the rack is designed to carry very heavy loads in excess of 300kg under testing on a bench, which is way more than your vehicle can safely carry.
You need to take your vehicles handling capabilities and carrying strength into account. Heavy loads on the roof of the vehicle will drastically change how your vehicle handles both on and off road. Always drive in accordance with the road conditions while loaded and pay careful attention to how your vehicle behaves with a loaded roof rack and drive accordingly.
While your vehicle is stationary however, you can spread a load over the rack of more than 300kg without any worry of damaging your rack. (But never drive with this sort of weight on the roof.)
Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for the Safe Work Load specific to your Toyota FJ Cruiser.

6 month update Review by michael
The rack still looks great, after 6 months. Still have not put it to a real test, I just carry my spare tire up there. I do notice it is not level, but that is because the FJ is not unless you put on a leveling kit. So it would be nice if there was an option for for taller mounting brackets. I think i was get the ladder alone with 4 extra slots to hang out up there when I go to the Everglades. (Posted on 25/06/2018)
Love it Review by michael
I just put this rack on and have not had a chance to really test, but I thought I would tell you what I think of this rack and this company. I will update in 6 months and then again in 1 year. First let me say all I have carried on my stock rack has been my spare tire. That’s all that I could fit up there. Then I put in a drop basket on it, it just rusted and began to drop its rust water all over my roof. So I decided I would go with a full non~rusting rack. Wow, I thought I could get that for $700-$800. If you’ve been looking you know that not happening, some will sell it at that price then hit you with installation parts and shipping. So I researched for weeks and this, the slimline 2, seemed like the best choice. Definitely the cheapest overall for the quality I was looking for.. I was a little hesitant since I never heard of front runner outfitters, but I live by life is a chance. First it arrived quicker than it said, big plus. I assembled the rack that night, the instructions said 1hour but it was more like 1.5 for me. The next morning it put together the mounting rails, that was quick 15 minutes. Now came installing them on the truck. The two ends lined up perfectly, but the center mounting spot was off by about 4 inches. I already siliconed the bolt holes so I was in a time crunch. So I called and the service department was on a wait so I called the sales line. The gentleman helped me without a problem. It’s up I had them on the wrong side, I assumed the company logo would go up front, but it goes to the back of the rack. So I switch them and it was a perfect match.on my last corner when I went to install the bolt the Back plate fell, so down with the corner of the headliner and grabbed it and put it in place and bolted it down. Now to bolt the rack to the rails. Ver time consuming, I have large, but not overly large, hands and there’s not much room to put your hands under the center mounting point. When done, wow, what a great looking and quality feel. I purchased some round eyelets for tie down points, so super easy to install about 10 seconds, no lie. So as for now great product and just as important, great service. (Posted on 09/01/2018)
Well designed rack, easy install, outstanding quality Review by Hector
The rack install went very well, only issues was the need to install mounting bolts to rack before placing on vehicle specific mountIng rails. It was covered in the instructions but I overlooked it.. Great no waste packaging attention to detail in parts personalized by the packer is a nice touch. I have had the rack installed for several weeks it is quiet, no squeaks or rattles no noticeable wind noise. Nice fit and finish. I can easily walk on this rack with no concerns.
