Product Questions

What thickness is the plate material?
Question by Alex
The plate is about 2mm (.08 inches) thick.
Answer by Front Runner
Love this grill it's super sweet. When we first got it we had stock tires, we recently upgraded to 35" tires and I can't find the spacers. Will it still hold together with out them? or should I order new spacers.
Question by Alyssa Miller
Give us a call and we'll get you those spacers. Can't leave the cooking grate behind!
Answer by Front Runner
I can't tell from the photo but can we cook directly on the grate or do we need a pot / pan / something else? Also, how tick is the stainless steel grate?
Question by jack
Yes, You can cook directly onto the BBQ grate. We do however suggest using some type a cooking spray for anti sticking. As for the thickness of the grate it is 1/8 inch thick.
Answer by Front Runner
Just wondering if this will cover an 18 inch spare tire from a Mercedes G500.
Question by Noel
Yes, The spare tire BBQ grate (VACC023) is adjustable up to a 35 inch tire.
Answer by Front Runner
Will this grill "ride" on the spare under the bed of a pick up (Tacoma)?
Question by Don
The Braai was designed to be attached to a vertically mounted spare tire. That being said, the weight of the Braai could cause it to fall off if mounted on a spare under the bed of your truck. The Braai isn't really attached to the tire, it's more of pinched on with a strap going around the legs to keep it from flying off.
Answer by Front Runner
what is the grade of the stainless?
Question by rona
Rona,

Our Braai is made with 3CR12 Stainless Steel.

Best Regards,

Answer by Front Runner
How do you recommend cleaning the grill?
Question by Tyler
Tyler,

Any grease fighting dish soap and warm water should do the job. You can also purchase any type of stainless steel grill cleaner at your local hardware store for tough stains.

Have you ever seen the grill warp during long usage and/or exposure to high heat?
Question by Weldon
Weldon,

We have tested the grill in many different heat exposures and it has not warped in any way.

Answer by Front Runner
How securely does the grill cling to the rear-facing spare? Is it held by anything more than friction? Concerned about off-roading to destination and finding we lost the new grill somewhere along the way...
Question by Another Mike
Mike, the legs have "teeth" that help position it nicely, but we always run an additional strap, spare wheel cover, or our spare tire ladder for extra strength. Please check out the following link: http://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/front-runner-spare-wheel-step.html#.UwzxlF72bLc
Answer by Front Runner
What is the total cooking area?
Question by Chris
The grill diameter is 23.6"
Answer by Front Runner
will it stink your car up after cooking?
Question by Cooper
The grill is meant to be stored on the spare tire outside of the vehicle, but if you kept it inside I would imagine it will have a smell from the fire and food you cooked yes. You can quick clean it before you put it away of course to help reduce that.
Answer by Front Runner
Was this the grill featured on Gizmodo, Jalopnik & Uncrate?
Question by Kevin
Yes it is! Along with many other popular gear and tech sites!
Answer by Front Runner
Any tips for using the first time and cleaning tips?
Question by Brand New Grill
You will want to do a quick wash before the first time you cook on it, as well as a wipe down before you cook after a drive. As for cleaning, a mild cleaner and scouring pad seem to work really well. It mainly depends on what and how much you cook on it. Thanks!
Answer by Front Runner
Do I have to let the grill cool down before I put it back on the tire?
Question by Clueless
That would be the best thing to do yes. We do not recommend picking up the grill while it is still hot.

It take quite a job to clean it after a dusty road.expecially when it was not cleaned thoroughly after the previous braai. Grease. Grime and dust (Posted on 09/12/2017)
Sweet grill Review by poppylee
Just make a fire and through on the grill, it's stainless steal so you can cook burger or steaks on it. If you buddies gets stuck on the trail you can make them some food while they get unstuck. (Posted on 17/05/2017)
