FRONT RUNNER ON THE MOVE: GRÉGOIRE KENGEN

FRONT RUNNER ON THE MOVE: GRÉGOIRE KENGEN

- 2023-01-13

Grégoire Kengen (aka Gregsway on Youtube) is a Belgian traveler and filmmaker. Greg left his engineering studies to hit the road and has never looked back. He’s well known for his van life missions and extended car-camping expeditions but loves few things more than a quick weekend trip.

How many kilometres have you done in the past 12 months or so?

I did roughly 20 000km with my Toyota Land Cruiser. Most of those were during my expedition to the North Cape, the most northerly point in Europe. It’s situated is located at Magerøya in Norway, around 71 degrees north and approximately 2000km from the North Pole. Then I did around 15 000km with my Mercedes through Portugal, Spain, and France.

Aside from those long expeditions, you are a big fan of shorter weekend trips, correct?

Yes! Those are probably the best adventures. When you come back home (from an expedition), you miss traveling and then you just hit the road with a big smile knowing that time is limited and that you need to make the most of it. Being able to quickly set up the car for specific weather is a breeze thanks to my Front Runner gear. For those weekend missions, ‘light is right’ and that's why I love my Front Runner products so much.

Can you give us a rundown of some of your favorite camping spots of all time?

On a beach with my Mercedes in Portugal

I was parked on the sand right next to the crashing waves and the sunset was spectacular.

Frozen sea in Sweden

On my way to the North Cape, I slept on a frozen sea. Sleeping in a desert of ice under the Northern Lights was a surreal experience.

A dirt road in the French Alps

I was all alone on this remote jeep track high up in the mountains and enjoyed the best sunset ever while cooking with my Front Runner gear.

What is the biggest mechanical issue you’ve ever had to deal with while on an adventure?

I’ve been fortunate to never have had any big breakdowns. I did however get stuck four times in the snow with my Land Cruiser on my way to the North Cape. Without my Maxtrax, I might still be up there!
