Beyond the Rack
BY ANDREW PASQUELLA
Combine the world's toughest adventure gear with a group armed with good intentions and you get a mission Front Runner couldn't pass up. An eleven month journey that spanned from Cape Town, South Africa to London, England; the DHL Africa As One was an epic program with the goal of touching as many African communities as possible by introducing the game of rugby, distribute stationary for educational purposes, and to give as many free eye tests and reading glasses as possible. The results were tremendous, with 3,545 kids playing rugby for the first time, 4,206 free eye tests given and 3,828 free reading glasses gifted to those in need.
Front Runner outfitted three Land Rover Discovery 4's with the Slimline II Roof Racks, drawer systems, battery systems, refrigerators and all the accessories needed to make the long-distance journey a comfortable and safe one. And African adventure ensued! Between meetings with wild gorillas and crocodiles, to dealing with floods and mud in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, our gear was put to the test and passed with flying colors. The seven person team was not only able to traverse dangerous conditions but also stay on course to successfully interact with the diverse African cultures and people that make the vast continent so special.
